WI Dems and supporters desperate, launch last minute lying smear

Wisconsin Democrats, so supremely confident just 6 months ago that they were going to absolutely crush Gov. Scott Walker in this recall election they’ve forced, have now become so desperate they’ve taken to outright lying in a flailing attempt to overcome the momentum Walker seems to be riding. Those wonderfully well-sourced and coolly analytical people at the Daily Kos started pushing a rumor that Scott Walker had fathered a child out of wedlock back in his college days. Funny, tho, in the hyperventilating write-up they had to actually admit they they hadn’t spoken with the woman who bore the child.

Fortunately, a real reporter at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Dan Bice, did something novel: he contacted the primary source on the story.

Bice wrote:

“I am getting a lot of emails because of this post. Two things: (1) I tracked down and talked to Dr. Gillick’s freshman-year roommate at MU yesterday, and she adamantly denies that Walker is the father of her child. Yes, she got pregnant as a first-year student, but she believes Dr. Gillick is mixing up stories; and (2) I Can Read CCAP has taken a family court suit involving Scott Alan Walker and mixed it up with the governor, Scott Kevin Walker.”

But once progressives sink their teeth into a smear, they don’t let go.

True enough. We’ve had lots of experience with that here in Virgina.

The issue of a recall should be a matter of whether the person being considered for a recall has either done something illegal or has simply failed to perform the job they were elected for. Scott Walker campaigned in 2010 on a particular platform. He made no secret about it. When elected, he moved immediately to act on that platform. Working with the newly-elected Republican majority in the State houses – who had also been elected on a platform they clearly communicated – several reforms were passed, this in spite of an attempt by Wisconsin Democrats to flee the state in order to deliberately not perform their job functions. Those reforms have gone into effect and the results projected for those reforms have actually happened.

So… Gov. Walker is being recalled because he did exactly what he said he’d do on the campaign trail and what he’s done has had precisely the results he claimed they would? Ridiculous. No, what he’s being recalled for is that the Democrats and the rest of the liberal/progressive/leftist elements who support them can’t stand the fact that in a democratic election they lost. They lost, decisively, and they want to just keep running the state through do-over after do-over until they get their way. Wisconsin voters should put their feet down and just as decisively tell these people that enough is enough. They had their say in 2010, just like everyone else, and just as they would demand – have demanded – that everyone respect the results of the election had their guy won, they need to mature up and offer that same respect. They’ll have their shot again in 2 years, assuming they can come up with something more compelling than telling the rest of the WI citizenry that they need to keep paying for better pension and health benefits for WI public sector employees than they get themselves.

Good luck in the poles tomorrow, Wisconsin. I hope you do the right thing, confirm Gov. Walker, and put this “recall” nonsense to rest.
