I’ve been involved in personal stuff this evening and just now checked to see how the primary results were coming in. I notice that Rand Paul of Kentucky has defeated the RNC-preferred candidate Trey Grayson for the GOP Senate candidate’s slot. Paul didn’t just “defeat” Grayson, he’s apparently blown his doors off with a 59.2% to 35.2% margin at the moment I’m writing this. (105 of 120 Counties have fully reported in.)
In the “couldn’t happen to a nicer guy” department, PA’s Joe Sestak is being called the winner of the Dem primary there, unseating incumbent turncoat Arlen Specter. Fox has a “breaking” banner up about it but no story to link to at the moment. PA’s elections returns site is showing Sestak over Specter 53.4% to 46.6% with 72.25% of districts reporting. Could be that that’s enough to take it, considering what’s left. We’ll give it a couple of hours to be sure.
Not a good night to be an incumbent nor the preferred candidate of the incumbents.
