What the Dems say about Gustav when they think no one’s listening
Via Power Line this morning, here’s a lovely example of what highly-placed Democrats are saying about Gustav and the potential to hit New Orleans when they think no one’s listening:
John Hinderaker sums it up perfectly:
This is what Hurricane Katrina was all about. Mainstream reporters committed malpractice, repeatedly reporting things that weren’t true. They did this to try to help their party at a time when the Democrats needed help badly, and they succeeded. The Democrats are desperately hoping for another New Orleans hurricane that will kill thousands of people and thus distract attention from the Republican Convention. You can draw your own conclusion about the moral stature of these people.
Precisely. Obama and his team draw on the worried looks and sound the heartfelt concern when the MSM’s cameras are on but this is very, very much what they’re thinking in the background. Republicans, on the other hand, are setting up options to actually help people affected. Not that they’ll get any credit for doing it but that’s the way the left in this country works. Unless it’s a massive, inefficient government program paid for by 55% taxation on anyone making over $70K/year and confiscation of any business profits over some Dem-defined figure, it’s just not worthy.
And I note how fast they’re all saying that it’s proof of God that something bad’s going to happen to someone else. Nice. That’ll really help, lefties, thanks a bunch.

Ric, I think I read that James Dobson encouraged people to pray for rain during Obama’s speech in Denver last week.
The point I’m making is that both parties seem to think that God is a partisin and working on thier party’s behalf.
As a Nation we should be praying for no loss of life, and for the people in the Gulf area. This is the time Americans can and should come together as one nation not as two political parties.
NJW,
Point me to the link where Dobson is confirmed as saying that. I keep hearing people say they heard it or read about it somewhere but every time I ask, I get a link to some TV reporter saying they heard it somewhere else. What I posted and what the video shows isn’t rumor, it’s confirmed that they said what they said.
I agree that we should be praying for God to turn Gustav away from as many people as possible and to let pass any loss of life or livelihood. I’m also not keen on saying God’s a Republican although I have no issue thinking he smiles on America.
I would, however, contend that (even if Dobson did ask for people to pray for rain) there’s a huge difference in laughing over what amounts to an inconvenient rainfall in the middle of a speech versus laughing over a Category 3 hurricane. It’s not the same thing and it shouldn’t be treated as such when addressing condemnation of what the Dems are saying, here.
Ric, not sure why but can’t seem to post the link (really, no kidding) tried three times but, no go?? Let me know if links are posted differently on this site and I’ll try again to put up the link an my comment. Thanks
