Georgians give McKinney the big boot – Hank Johnson wins runoff

Congrats to Hank Johnson for his win of the Dem runoff in Georgia. Congrats to the voters of District 4 for standing resolutely against the race-baiting, obnoxious Cynthia McKinney and denying her a return to the House of Representatives.

The AJC reports 100% of precincts counted and Johnson took 58.82% of the vote with McKinney taking 41.18%. McKinney has yet to concede, of course, and I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were Johnson. She’ll follow her standard operating procedure and start screaming and flailing about conspiracies and disenfranchisement any moment now and will demand recounts, revotes, etc., etc., etc. She’ll never go gracefully.

Well, more tomorrow, folks. It’s late.

Hotline reporting Lieberman concedes; says he’ll win in November as an Indy

Well, it’s done now. Lamont as won the Democratic primary in CT and Lieberman has conceded it. (See Hotline Blog.) While I’m sure there’s a whole lotta whoopin’ it up over at Daily Kos and the Democratic Underground, what they’re not seeing is that they’ve just put their necks into a guillotine and handed the trigger rope to Lieberman.

In the final analysis, almost half of the voting Democrats wanted Lieberman to be their Senator. You think those people are going to vote for Lamont when they can have Lieberman anyway? The nutroots haven’t won anything. They’ve just cost the Democratic Party a seat in the Senate for absolutely zero gain. It’ll get old Markos’s face on the news a few more times, but that’s not going to help the Dems, either. Rather, it’s put the spotlight on these moonbats and Americans everywhere will know what to look out for.

Congrats, Mr. Lamont. You’ve won the battle. Congrats, Mr. Lieberman. You’re now positioned to win the war.

Georgia’s McKinney gains some, still behind with over half of returns counted Updated

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting that Georgia’s District 4 race pitting incumbent Cynthia McKinney against Hank Johnson ain’t looking too pretty for Ms. McKinney. With 87 of 167 precincts reporting, Johnson is leading 58%-42%. Still a ways to go but I’m rooting for Johnson, here. Kick butt, Hank.

Update: (23:07) Now showing 146 of 167 precincts reporting. That’s 87.43% of the votes counted and Johnson leads now 59% – 40%. It’s over, McKinney. The only question becomes how long it will be before she accuses the elections officials of rigging the vote and casting racial accusations at Johnson.

Nutroots fizzling?

Please correct me if I’m wrong but the constant drone from the lefty sites for this past week or two has been that they’re going to launch Lamont over Lieberman by a landslide proving that they – what was the phrase? – “own” the Democratic party. So, here we are with about 94% of precincts reporting and the tally stands with Lamont at 51.65% and Lieberman at 48.35%. That’s 3.3%.

I’m thinking Lieberman’s going to rightly consider this to be a mandate from the people that he should run as an Indy. We’ll see, I suppose, in the next day or so. Depends on how much time Lieberman wants to spend pursuing the DoS attacks that took out his web site since Monday night.

CT Sec’y of State misjudges the demand

This is pretty interesting. In trying to pull the primary data from the CT Department of State, I got this page:

Error Message:

A Crystal Reports job failed because a free license could not be obtained in the time allocated. More licenses can be purchased direct from Crystal Decisions or through the Crystal Decisions Online Store.

I couldn’t post the entire page of information but the error message tells the tale. Their installed report engine (Crystal Reports) only has so many licenses to hand out at a time and the demand is way, way, way, in excess of the supply.

Should have set up a blog instead.

Super Tuesday results

The Hotline Blog is putting up the results as they come in. Have a look if you’re interested.

Update: (10:17 EDT 8/8/2006) According to Hotline, Lamont leads Liberman 51.71% to 48.29%. Closer than Kos wanted everyone to think it was going to be and there’s still nearly 20% of the returns to process, but it’s looking like a Lamont victory coming.

Down in Georgia, there’s only 35.5% of the precincts reporting, but so far Johnson’s got a whole case of whoopass opened up on McKinney. He’s leading with 62% of the vote. (Hotline shows McKinney’s got 39%, which would make 101% but I’m guessing there’s some rounding error going on.)

More as I see more.

Where do I buy the tickets?

The US Army is considering an “entertainment district” near Ft. Belvoir, VA.

The Army’s $300 million museum is expected to open in 2013, but The Washington Post reports that the Army wants to move the project a few miles down the road to land on the Engineer Proving Ground.

The move would allow the overall project to expand from 75 acres to about 125 acres. It also would provide space for a private developer to bring in hotels and other attractions that might draw more than one million visitors a year. The proposal from Universal City Property Management III of Orlando, a company connected with NBC-Universal, calls for “4D” rides, including one that would let you feel the free fall of a paratrooper or fly a Cobra Gunship.

(You didn’t think I was going to talk about some other kind of “entertainment district,” now did you? For shame…) A military museum with interactive attractions to let me get the feel of free fall or flying a gunship? Sign me up!
