HoodaThunk?

Mental wanderings of a common man.

Important correction and party primer

A couple of weeks ago I attended the VA 10th Congressional District Republican Committee Convention where the 10th’s Chairman seat was up for grabs. You can read about that here if you like.

One of the assertions I made in speaking of my support for Heidi Stirrup was that Jim Rich hadn’t addressed the LCRC where Heidi had. I m advised that this is incorrect. Jim Rich did speak to the LCRC at the January 2006 meeting. I wasn’t there for that meeting so I missed hearing him.

From the same source as this information, I was also given some information into the GOP’s structure along with websites and I wanted to pass this along to other interested parties. I am quoting what was given me, so here goes:

Here is the hierarchy:

Republican National Committee www.rnc.org

Republican Party of Virginia www.rpv.org

Congressional Districts Committee (there are 11 in Virginia)  www.va10gop.org

Unit Committee (…each county and city and town…) http://www.loudoungop.com/

Each is an entity under the previous one in the list.  Each
district and unit in Virginia is ruled by the Virginia Republican Party Plan (or By-laws).

This list is from the perspective of Loudoun County, of course. In your locale, the State, District, and Unit will be specific to your residence. For locals to my area, however, this list represents each of the major GOP organizations that cover the area in which we live. Their web sites should contain updated information as to party news pertinent to their organizational level and methods of contact and getting involved.

My thanks to my source for this information.
